Treading More Lightly
Wherever you go, Crocs clogs are designed for comfort. But we’re also designing them for a lighter footprint on the planet. From materials to packaging to recycling, we’re innovating to use more circular processes and reduce the impacts of your favourite clogs.

Our Shoe of the Future
We are pioneering the use of bio-based, bio-circular materials to transform plant-based waste into shoes that have all the comfort you expect from Crocs. In 2025, we achieved 25% bio-circular materials within our Classic Clogs.* 100% of the bio-circular material sourced for our use in our Classic Clog is certified as ISCC PLUS (mass balance approach). We are continuing to evaluate how bio-circular and other alternative materials can help lower the carbon footprint of our most iconic style (see more below)!
*We source repurposed bio-based waste from other industries to produce bio-circular materials. In 2025, Classic Clogs contained at least 25% bio-circular content, calculated on an annual average (January 2025 - December 2025) using a mass balance approach as certified by ISCC PLUS.

Reducing our carbon footprint feels good.
Our simple approach to design and materials means that our most iconic shoe, the Classic Clog already has a low carbon footprint. In 2021 we calculated the carbon footprint of a pair of Classic Clogs as 2.56kg CO2e, using the most conservative material emissions factors at the time*. This is significantly lower than many other shoes. For context, MIT researchers calculate the average footprint for a pair of shoes as 14kg CO2e, according to this study.
Now we're driving it down even further. Our most recent carbon footprint analysis in 2024 established a footprint of 1.92kg CO2e for our Classic Clogs, which is a reduction of 25% from our 2021 baseline^. And we’re not stopping there; we’re working towards a 50% reduction in the carbon footprint of our Classic Clog by 2030.
*Using the Higg Product Module 1.0, these calculations used industry recognized sample sizes, were conducted internally, and represent a cradle-to-grave impact.
^Verified by a third-party Product Carbon Footprint (PCF) conducted by SGS environmental consultancy using primary data from fiscal year 2024, which included the use of 25% repurposed plant-based content in our Croslite™ material.

Packaging Light, Packaging Right
We ship to our fans all over the world and are making strides to reduce our environmental impact.
The majority of our shoes are packaged in a product polybag, which has an 85% lower carbon footprint than a shoe box.* As of early 2025, all of our primary polybags are now made with 100% recycled content!**
*This comparative metric was made against a shoebox containing 85% recycled cardboard, 15% market mix cardboard, and weighing 180 grams and calculated using the Higg Materials Sustainability Index (Higg MSI at higg.org) V3.7 developed by the Sustainable Apparel Coalition, a cradle-to-gate material assessment tool that calculates environmental impacts of materials. The calculation was completed in 2024 by Crocs, Inc. and is not verified by a third party.
** Our low-density polyethylene (LDPE) product polybags are made with 100% post-industrial recycled content.

Vegan Options
The majority of our products are vegan, including our iconic Classic Clog.
